Cigar Humidification – How to Keep Your Cigars in Perfect Condition

Cigar smoking has become more than just a past time for cigar enthusiasts, to most it has become a lifestyle. In fact, most enthusiasts have created their own rituals that they follow every time they light a cigar. Cigar smoking is, to most enthusiasts, is an art form which is why each time a person lights up a cigar should be a perfect smoking experience. To make each smoking experience perfect, you should definitely know how to keep your cigars as fresh as the day you opened them.

This is why it is important that you invest in a cigar humidor that will store your and protect your cigars. By storing your cigars in a humidor, you keep your cigars at a regulated temperature and moisture, and as an effect you maintain the flavor of the cigar. Generally, a cigar is at its best when it is stored at around 68 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit with 65-70% humidity.

The correct temperature required for the storing of cigars has been long debated by enthusiasts. Some of them insist that a slight change in the temperature should be counteracted by a change in humidity. They believe that every degree that the temperature decreases merits a 1% increase in the humidity and vice-versa. But this is a myth. The humidity levels should always be kept at 65-70% at all times. This is the only way to maintain the flavor, integrity and color of your favorite cigars.

When looking for a cigar humidor, there are some factors that you should definitely always keep in mind. One of the most important things you should keep in mind is that the cigar humidor should keep the moisture inside the cigar humidor. If you buy a cigar humidor that is neither snug nor secure then it can cause more damage than good to your cigars. If you choose a cigar humidor that has a tight lid, then it will also prevent outside elements from affecting the cigars inside your humidor. It is better that you choose a cigar humidor that has a smooth interior, that way you can prevent snagging cigars (or your fingers). It should also be lined with Spanish cedar. It will help you regulate the moisture inside of the cigar humidor as Spanish cedar absorbs the excess moisture inside the humidor.

There are many materials that can be used in the interior of the cigar humidor, but the best material to use is Spanish cedar.

Lastly, it is important that you measure the size of your cigars before buying the cigar humidor. Nothing can be more frustrating than buying a cigar humidor only to find out that your cigars don’t fit in them. There are many kinds and sizes of cigars and humidors available in the market which is why you should measure your cigars before buying a cigar humidor for your favorite cigars.

Once you buy a cigar humidor, you should start seasoning it at once so that you can preserve your cigars for a very long time.
