Become a Fashion Designer With Dress Up Games

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

In general, girls love fashion more than boys. Some of them want to become fashion designers when they grow up. There are even some that are too young to know what a fashion designer is, but they love dressing up with mom’s clothes and combining them in several ways in order to come up with the prettiest outfit for their tea party with their stuffed animals. There is a tool that’s very easy and cheap to get access to for those girls who want to hone their skills.

Fashion on Internet

Thanks to the world wide reach of the Internet, now girls can get access to tons of styles, clothing and accessories from all over the world, even from cultures that are very different from theirs.

What is needed?

There are only two things you need, a computer and Internet access. If your reading this article, chances are you have them already. If you have a child in your house, I’m almost sure you have them already.

Dressing Up a Virtual Doll

There are literally thousands of dress up games at the reach of a few clicks. With only the imagination as a limit, programmers and designers have created dress up games that feature almost every celebrity and character that there is, and even groups of girls. From the Powerpuff girls to the Bratz dolls, and from the RBD pop girls to the cast of High School Musical, girls can play fashion designer with their favorite character, singer, actress or celebrity. There are, of course, generic nameless dolls dress up games, which are more suited for fashion only gaming.

Gameplay

Dress up games are very similar to old fashioned paper dolls, except with a far wider range of clothing. Girls select from a range of different pieces of clothing and accessories for a virtual doll to wear. Girls have fun by making the doll look pretty, stylish, elegant, cute, funny or whatever other idea they might come up with.

One of the most interest aspects of playing dress up games created from places all over the world is that girls are exposed to styles from different cultures. They will be dressing their dolls with Japanese kimonos, Indian Saris, Mexican sombreros, French bonnets, etc. You can even mix several elements from all over the world in order to make the perfect international look.

Building Up a Portfolio

It’s a good idea to save your or your girl’s creations on your computer for later reference. There are several advantages, for example, re-creating a look or style in real life, or printing it in order to decorate a room. You can also use one that you really liked or enjoyed as a screen background on your computer. Over time, a portfolio will let you show others your work, or give you a base to develop styles of your own. Of course, you can also post a printed version of your girl’s work on the fridge, or another special place, to show her how proud you are of her creativity.

Brad Pitt and His Accomplishments

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

William Bradley Pitt or Brad Pitt was born on December 18, 1963 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to parents William Alvin Pitt, a truck company owner, and Jane Etta Pitt, a high school guidance counselor. He has two younger siblings, Doug and Julie Neal. Despite being born in Oklahoma, the Pitts grew up in Springfield, Missouri, and were raised as conservative Southern Baptists. He attended and excelled in high school at the Kickapoo High School, where he was very active in extra-curricular activities and sports such as swimming, tennis, golf, debates, and in high school musicals. He went on to study at the University of Missouri where he majored in journalism and advertising. During his last semester at the university, Brad realized that he had stronger aspirations in the world of acting, dropped out, and headed to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.

Pitt had a string of odd jobs in Los Angeles, from being a stripper’s chauffeur to delivering refrigerators. All these he did while enrolling himself in acting classes. After seven months of hard work, Brad Pitt was able to get his own agent as well as acting jobs. He first started in television in shows such as Dallas, Growing Pains, and Another World. During these years, he also met his then-girlfriend Juliette Lewis during the filming of a TV movie Too Young to Die. In 1989, Pitt had his big screen debut in Cutting Class, but it was his role in Ridley Scott’s Thelma and Louis that caught Hollywood’s attention. Unfortunately, his next few films The Favor, Johnny Suede, and Cool World were not enough to boost his credibility as an actor and just garnered him the title of a Hollywood pretty boy. Only when he starred in A River Runs through It later that same year did he deliver such a great performance that Hollywood took notice of Pitt as more than just a pretty face. His next major role which again garnered much critical attention was in the movie Interview with the Vampire with Tom Cruise. His following films Legends of the Fall and Seven only secured his place in Hollywood. During the filming of Seven, he met and fell in love at first sight with then quite unknown actress Gwyneth Paltrow and eventually got engaged after two and a half years together. Sadly, the couple split for unknown reasons seven months after their engagement.

Pitt went on to star in critically acclaimed films such as Devil’s Own, Seven Years in Tibet, Meet Joe Black, and Twelve Monkeys for which he won a Golden Globe as best supporting actor. He later reteamed with David Fincher, director of Seven, to shoot the film Fight Club which soon became a cult film. Soon after, Pitt worked on more critically acclaimed films such as Snatch, Troy, and the Ocean’s Eleven franchise. In 2005, he worked on the film Mr. and Mrs. Smith with Angelina Jolie, whom he would later end up with three adopted children and three biological children. Brad Pitt earlier had gotten married to Friends star Jennifer Aniston in 2000, but had a divorce in 2005. Pitt’s films during those years included Babel, Burn After Reading, and Ocean’s Twelve and Thirteen. His latest film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button received many nominations at the Academy Award including Pitt’s first Best Actor nomination. Pitt is set to star in the upcoming film Inglorious Basterds, and The Tree of Life with Sean Penn.

AC/DC Tickets-AC/DC’s Grasp Around No. 1 Spot Remains Strong

Monday, December 15th, 2008

During Election Week 2008 Barack Obama became the 44th United States President and the first African American to hold our nation’s highest office, and it was a good week for AC/DC as well. The famed rock band spent their second week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart for their most recent album, the Columbia-released Black Ice, which at that point sold 271,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen Soundscan. Black Ice, which is available exclusively at Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club and on the band’s Web site, has fended off musical contenders like Pink to remain atop the charts. Pink’s Funhouse sees the feisty singer experiencing career-best chart placement with the No. 2 spot and 180,000 units sold. Disney’s High School Musical 3 soundtrack fights for a place at No. 3 with John Legend’s Evolver (No. 4), Toby Keith’s That Don’t Make Me a Bad Guy (No. 5) and Rascal Flatt’s greatest hits set (No. 6) competing for AC/DC’s spot as well. Help the band celebrate their two-week reign atop the Billboard charts by seeing them live, try http://www.stubhub.com/ac-dc-tickets/ for AC/DC tickets.

While most of the names currently on the charts are relatively new acts, AC/DC began making their brand of minimalist rock music in the early 1970s. Guitarist Malcolm Young, formerly of the Velvet Underground, formed AC/DC with his brother Angus (who was just 15-years-old at the time) in their native Australia in 1973 and enlisted bassist Mark Evans (who would later be replaced by Cliff Williams), vocalist Bon Scott and drummer Phil Rudd to join the band. Taking their name from the back of their sister’s sewing machine, the Young brothers and company released a handful of moderately successful albums before finally hitting the big time with 1979’s iconic rock album Highway to Hell. Sadly, Scott died the following year due to alcohol consumption and was replaced by Brian Johnson. AC/DC then issued what would be their-biggest seller, For Those About to Rock We Salute You, and subsequently Simon Wright replaced Rudd.

AC/DC suffered from waning commercial success in the 1980s but came back in 1990 with the hit single “Thunderstruck” off successful album The Razor Edge and has remained one of the premier rock bands ever since. AC/DC is known for their energetic live performances, which have been packing stadiums for nearly four decades, and their current tour in support of Black Ice is proving to follow the trend. If you want to see this rock band live, hurry up and get your AC DC tickets soon before they all sell out. The Black Ice tour is AC/DC’s first since 2001 and they are currently in the midst of performing 24 dates in North America, during which they will undoubtedly be preaching their constant message of sex, drugs and rock’n’roll that has been luring in fans (and making parents worry) for years now. The tour concludes Dec. 18 in Charlotte, N.C. but is sure to not be the last outing for AC/DC.
